Metabolism

It is really important that when you are trying to lose weight that you do not miss out meals, especially breakfast. When you first start eating in a day is when your metabolism starts so that you can burn more calories. Instead make sure that you have three meals a day and one or two healthy snacks. These meals should be balanced and not too big so that you feel really full afterwards. The portion size should corespond to your body size, so a smaller person should have a smaller portion.

TIP: One way that you can maximise your metabolism efficiency is to have a glass of warm water in the morning. This can be with some lemon juice or try Nettle tea as an alternative.

Have Fun While Losing Weight

The other day i came across this...

It highlights the fact that many people do not enjoy losing weight, that is unless they see results extremely quickly. So we need to make losing weight fun and enjoyable so there is no chance of not wanting to get on with it.

This program uses dance as an interesting and enjoyable workout.

Losing Weight and Food

I'm sure that you know at least one person who has been on a crash diet, who exercises furiously, or just a regular diet in an attempt to lose weight.
There are some crash diets out there that hhave been proven and work when trying to lose weight quickly. But they ALL have negative effects on your health, so i would not recommend any of them!

Introduce changes gradually

Small changes can make a big difference. One extra biscuit a week can lead you to gain 5lb a year – cut that biscuit out of your diet and you'll lose the same amount.
You're also more likely to stick to, say, swapping full-fat milk for semi-skimmed or making time for breakfast each morning than a diet that sets rules for all foods.
You should think of weight loss in terms of permanently changing your eating habits. While weight-loss goals are usually set in term of weeks, the end game is to sustain these changes over months and years, ie lifestyle change for life.

As im sure you you can guess this simple process does work, but it could be a little while before you see any changes, however it does take the risk out of your "lifestyle changes". Just dont be disheartened.

Lose Weight for the Summer

Cut calories

A gram of fat contains twice as many calories as a gram of carbohydrate or protein. Reduce high-fat foods in your diet, choose lower or fat-reduced options, use cooking oil and spreads sparingly and remove excess fat from meat.
Include lower calorie options in your diet, such as fruit and vegetables. Bulky fibre-rich foods are also a good choice.
Try switching from white to wholemeal bread, or choose a wholegrain breakfast cereal.

Think about portion sizes

Portion sizes have increased over the years, especially when it comes to ready meals and snack foods. This means we're consuming extra calories, but we adapt quickly to eating bigger portions and don't tend to feel fuller as a result.
Downsize potatoes, pasta, rice and fatty and sugary foods, and super size fruit and vegetables.

Watch what you're drinking

Cut sugar-rich drinks and alcohol, and instead choose water, tea, coffee or artificially sweetened drinks.
Sugary drinks add extra calories to your diet but don't make you feel full or satisfied.

Keep a balanced diet

Remember the principles of a balanced diet - include plenty of fruit and vegetables (at least five portions a day), unrefined foods with more fibre, lean meats and low-fat dairy products.

Use your lower ab muscles to draw your knees up to your chest. Then lower in a controlled motion, keeping a slight bend in the knees.

Welcome - First ever post

Hi everyone, my name is Tyler and i will tell you now that i used to be really quite large when i was younger, even up to the age of sixteen/seventeen when i was exersising almost everyday i still had some real anxiety problems due to my size.
There were times when i wanted to give up exercising because it didnt seem to be getting anywhere, but thanks to my parents i kept at it and the weight did go.

And even now i am really glad i did stick at it. It may have been hard work and still is, but i asure you that those moments that you see yourself in the mirror are really worthwhile, even if it doesnt seem like it will.

Now the there are obviously going to be better sports at burning the calories AND toning than others, and the top three are as follows
3. Swimming
2. Gymnastics
1. Ballet
Now i know that there are drawbacks to all of them and of course ballet may not appeal to everyone, but if you can swim then i would seriously recommend it because you are using so many different muscles when swimming which tones them and burns the calories faster.
